Simon Hallström – Photographer & Mathematician
When I met Simon Hallström for the first time, he was a mathematics graduate at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, writing his Ph.D. thesis “Parabolic renormalization of weakly commuting pairs” – that was in 2005.
When we met again in 2009, he was a photographer. It was his photographic work, his pictures that led to our conversation. And thus, I met a personality in a crossfire of intellect and emotion.
Not afraid of intimacy but respecting transience, he gains an impressive directness through his photographs.
A photographer with sensitivity and a passion for the moment, feeding the memory of the past and offering beauty.
